Getting viewers/subs, article titles and ideas?
-
Hi,
I have a game development blog mentioned above.
I am making indie games and I would like to gain interest in my games perhaps by having traffic to my devblog?
Lets ignore for a moment if the people getting to my development blog are interested in my games or not.(which is generic tech stuff not necessarily about specific games)How would I gain more traffic/subs to my blog?
Currently I have about 15 visitors a day, most of them are from either search engines or links to my blog from other websites.I have been trying to make article names with many SEO search words but I am thinking maybe that is bad.
Should I always write the most literary and meaningful article name or should I also put in words that are searchable?
I also don’t entirely understand tags.
I know they are useful for searching but maybe I never saw their effect since there is no statistics about how they helped me gain traffic? So I basically ask about article titles, tags and how to gain more subs/traffic in general.
Thanks,
Ofer. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Two ways of attracting like-minded subscribers are
(1) commenting meaningfully and frequently on blogs with similar content and
(2) being active on social networking sites. On the bottom of your Admin page you will find a link to the Learn WordPress.com blogging Tutorial prepared by Staff. http://learn.wordpress.com/
The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also on the bottom of your Admin page.See these for Staff tips:

Increasing traffic to a blog is hard work. If you want your blog to rank well in search engine results then that begins with creating and publishing original content ie. unique content that cannot be found anywhere else on the internet.

Keyword stuffing is to be avoided at all costs. Learning some basic search engine optimization (SEO) begins with understanding keywords and how and where to use them effectively. See here for some tips http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/12/05/keyword-power-in-the-blogging-world/
Targeted Blog Post Titles Draw Traffic – create short, keyword rich, optimized titles http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/04/targeted-blog-titles-draw-traffic/
If you keep your titles under 55 characters, you can expect at least 95% of your titles to display properly. Keep in mind that search engines may choose to display a different title than what you provide in your HTML. Titles in search results may be rewritten to match your brand, the user query, or other considerations. http://moz.com/learn/seo/title-tagPlease consult Google’s Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide

If you’re in a hurry, here’s the one-page version.
https://storage.googleapis.com/support-kms-prod/SNP_3027140_en_v0Search engine spiders read HTML and understand the relevance of heading tags, so when heading tags are used appropriately search engines give more weight to text that is inside a heading tag. That’s why it’s important for WordPress.com bloggers to learn what HTML heading tags are and how to use them properly. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/05/08/wordpress-com-heading-tags-from-h1-h6/
A special character may draw the scanning eye of the reader, but using special characters may attract the kind of attention you don’t want. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/07/21/avoid-special-character-use-in-titles-and-tags/
Title tags are often used on search engine results pages (SERPs) to display preview snippets for a given page, and are important both for SEO and social sharing. For see Top 5 Site Title Tag Tips http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/08/02/top-5-site-title-tag-tips/
* Google typically displays the first 50-60 characters of a site title tag, or as many characters as will fit into a 512-pixel display. For Creating an effective blog tagline see http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2009/06/22/creating-an-effective-blog-tagline/ -
I also don’t entirely understand tags.
Categories and Tags are used for on-site convenience of readers. They can quickly locate locate all posts assigned the same Category or Tag by clicking a single Category or Tag link.
Neither Categories nor Tags are required for SEO purposes. Search engines like Google send targeted traffic to your blog based on results of keyword searches of your indexed content.
