    Hi,

My problem has occured on multiple websites that I manage, but I am clueless. Time to time my websites automatically push one random theme that ive never used. It looks like this. i can activate my Neve theme and the problem is solved but the theme twentythree keeps comming back for some reason and my websites are unusable becouse of it.

    • Neve has automatic updates on
    • Only plugin i have for cache is W3 Total Cache
  • I do not see any sites under your @sebastianondo WordPress.com account when I check on our end. You can confirm by visiting this page: https://wordpress.com/sites.

Is it possible you created your site under a different login instead? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?

Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

  • Hey there,

Many thanks for that additional information. It doesn’t look like these sites are hosted with WordPress.com, and so we can’t help with these sites – currently.

A switch to a default theme like TwentyTwentyThree happens when something happens to a theme to make it break – for example, it could be missing a theme file like functions.php, or style.css, or something else entirely to make that theme faulty.

If you’ve got any sort of back up system in place, it’s possible the back up could be reverting to a point in time where a faulty theme is in place.

That said, this is speculation on my part…

To explain, there’s two types of WordPress. The first being WordPress.com, which is a fully managed hosting solution for WordPress, whereby back ups are all ready in place for the site. The second is WordPress.org, where the software is downloaded and installed on a server. You can read about these differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

To run these sites on WordPress.com, the business plan would need to be in place, and they can be migrated using this free plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpcom-migration/

I hope this information is helpful, and please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you!
