Giant title (H1) persists in page edit area

    Hello WordPressers,

    i’m still fairly new here from static Bootstrap, and am busy feeling my way around the platform.

    Something that seems to have become a bit of an anomaly that i cannot find an answer to is the title or H1 element that is appearing when editing the page that i’m working on.

    In short, how do i get rid of that huge title – reading ‘Home Page (OllieTheme)’ – from the edit page?

    Hi there!

    The title you’re referring to is the actual page title for the homepage. Every page and post has a title. It can be left empty, but you should always have page titles for convenience. They have SEO benefits, too!

    If you don’t want the actual title displayed on the homepage, you can generally hide them using templates or other options that come with your theme.

    I see that your live homepage doesn’t display the title right now, so you may be all set in that regard. But the page title showing up at the top of the page in the editor is by design. It can’t be removed.

    You may want to change it to something that more accurately displays the homepage title, though. Right now, if you visit your homepage and look at the browser tab, you’ll see the current title Home Page (Ollie Theme) showing up.

    Once you’ve updated the page title to something more fitting, it’ll be reflected there as well.

    Right okay – it turns out after investigation that it is in fact possible to edit the page without this title h1 element showing up.

    Go to Appearance –> Editor –> and edit the Page that you want to work on and this strange element will not be visible.

    @tetsuobuddyhammer since the Site Editor is primarily for templates, you might pick a (or create) a page template that won’t display the title on-page. We have more info on that here:
