Sounds good. timethief can you start another one?
Closed because unfortunately all the themes in this thread that I looked at either had no clear licensing, questionable licensing or sponsored links.foolswisdom requested that i start another girl theme thread some time ago now and here it is. Here’s the link to the theme viewer http://themes.wordpress.net/
Any blogger who would like to request that a more feminine theme be brought over from wordpress.org and adapted to run on wordpress.com software please feel free to do so in this thread. :)

http://www.wpskins.org/Please note that I don’t have a clue whether or not these are themes with sponsored links embedded in them or not.

Am I missing where it might say if these are GPL-ed?
Margot – http://www.wpsnap.com/?p=78
TIffany Blue – http://www.wpsnap.com/?p=134 -
I didn’t want to touch GPL with a ten foot barge pole so I didn’t even look.
Staff have to confirm licensing and sort this in any event. :)Hmmm I like both Margot and Tiffany Blue :)

There also is a need for themes that look more “academic” or serious. Newspaper like perhaps.
I know (of) quite a few scientists and researchers who display some of their work online. Articles, papers and so.
There are relatively few themes to chose from if one wants to avoid the – well forgive me for lack of better words – but if one wants to avoid “the highschool look”.
The purpose of blogs like that forces one to present the text in a tight official style or even on a “dry and dusty” template. :-)
Intellectuals from institutes and universities have that kind of vanity. It is partially a service to their own students so they have a reputation to care about.

Oh no! Don’t tell me you’re threadjacking universalgeni …lol …
Who would have thought it? :-D))))))Did you know that there is one called “The Literary Life” already that wank has css customized and made available? Check it out here – scroll down to find it http://ntuat.wordpress.com/

Sorry. Delete it, please! I did not think. Dear staff – please delete my 2 posts in this thread.
Thanks for your comment above TT. Lets not ruin the thread any more.
-
Heck – no problem. I’m still lol ;-D)))
Check out the theme I pointed to above it’s ported for wordpress.com already. -

It really does look very nice. I like it a lot. Here is a better preview that Google came up with. Click on the magnifying glass:

Edit: link fixed

It is a good theme because a full width blog is nessesary for that kind of articles and papers. These people really write – they go on for eeeever – page up and page down. Not just a post as we know it.
Good font too. The letters can’t be to big for the same reason.

Here are a few I ran across this afternoon. I’m trying to find ‘feminine’ but not ‘immature’. (read: minimal pink ;) )
It’d be wonderful if they could be altered so the headers are customizable.

http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/2-columns/193/flawless-imperfection-10/katm linked to Margot, and I like that one a lot. There’s no indication of license in the zip file, but it’s from the person who designed ‘Rounded’, so we know WordPress.com has worked with them before.

Tiffany Blue is based on Sandbox, so that’s definitely GPL. There might be issues with the Tiffany trademark though. (No, I don’t know how that sits with the GPL-ness of the theme either.)
Unfortunately, The Literary Life won’t be added, as I have been personally assured that none of my themes are in danger of being adopted ;). I’m planning another push on Sandbox ports so that paid users will have a few more options, though unfortunately it looks like they’re going to have to be based on 0.61. Also, universalgeni’s request for a newspaper-style theme has been noted.
Oh, you want me to suggest a theme? I rather like Dandelion, though it’s fixed-width and may be too wide for some. Alas, it’s sponsored, as is Summer Flowers (which has a ToS guaranteed to make Matt spit fire).
It’s actually not that easy to find non-linkware feminine themes, which is why I’d prefer staff to look at the theme first and the licence second. I’m sure that many designers given the opportunity to have their themes installed on wordpress.com would be willing to relicence. Most people will have contact info on their sites, and it’s not like Matt to skip an opportunity to evangelise the GPL ;)

As this is my thread I would like to ask for the cooperation of all of those bloggers posting to it.
Please do not attempt to turn my thread into yet another battleground over sponsored links. Matt has made the decision so please accept that and and move on. Those who have already had their say about sponsored links in themes at wordpress.org and on the wp hacker’s list and on blogs are not welcome to go for it again in this thread.
Thanks, in advance, for respecting my request.
@foolswisdom
If there are bloggers who do not respect my request made above you have my permission to delete their posts on sight.
