Give blog administrators ability to unsubscribe followers

    I have had a few of the followers on my blog request for me to unsubscribe them. I explain to them that I cannot do this, they must do it. I even went so far as to post a page with visuals and information on exactly, step by step, on how to do this.

    I have had complaints that they have tried over and over again without success.

    Wouldn’t it make life simpler and less frustrating for everyone, including WordPress, if the blog administrator had the ability to unsubscribe a follower? Just makes sense.

    You are correct. Your followers control their own subscriptions – you don’t and can’t do this for him/her. Here are brief instructions for unsubscribing from a blog if the person has a WordPress.com username account:

    1. click the “unsubscribe” link on the emails of the posts received at the very bottom of the emails.
    2. go here > http://wordpress.com/#!/read/edit/ locate and click the “x” next to any blog there to unfollow it and no longer receive posts in the Reader or by email.
    3. go to the blog in question and click the unfollow/follow link on your Admin bar.

    If they do not have a WordPress.com username account then 1. applies.
    1. click the “unsubscribe” link on the emails of the posts received at the very bottom of the emails.

    If your subscribers have not been successful when it comes to unsubscribing then you will need to provide their usernames where applicable and or their email address for Staff. Posting and email address here results in the software redacting it ie. HIDING it. When you click submit only Staff can see it.

    As timethief mentioned, only followers can control their subscriptions, but staff is happy to help if some of your followers are having trouble with it. The best way for us to help is for those followers to contact support — you can direct them to the WordPress.com Support contact form for that. That way, we can discuss the issue with them directly.
