Give me back my Dashboard

I absolutely hate most of the aspects of the new interface for WP administrators, but you don’t even have a link to the Dashboard on the side menu. I couldn’t find any of my drafts! The new Home page is absolutely worthless. Please put things back to the way they were before. I hate this monkeying around with things to make them ‘easier’ and then no one can find anything. It took me ages to figure out how to do some of the things I routinely do when you changed the Edit page and forced me over to the new interface, which I also hate. In fact, I couldn’t figure out how to do one thing at all, and that’s how to make a relative link to another page on my own site. Sorry, folks, I know this doesn’t belong in the forums, but this is the so-called Contact Us page.

This interface change updates the design and link structure of four administration interfaces to be the same across all WordPress.com screens. It realigns closer with the open-source WordPress look & feel and makes it easier to integrate future upgrades to the experience.

Based on user feedback, going between different parts of WordPress.com and seeing so many different menus and sidebars was confusing and this update aims to make the user experience easier so this allows users to more easily manage their site directly from the sidebar.

If you prefer your navigation to always default to the classic WordPress look, you can navigate to https://wordpress.com/me/account and activate the option called “Dashboard appearance” as illustrated in this screenshot: https://en-support.files.wordpress.com/2021/03/markup-2021-03-09-at-16.52.34-1.png

We also cover this in more detail on this support guide page if you’re interested: https://wordpress.com/support/account-settings/#dashboard-appearance.

Please note that toggling this setting will also change some of the other links on your navigation menu, but you can always deactivate this option down the road to go back to the new interface.

That is somewhat helpful, but it doesn’t restore my side menu so that I can easily access my dashboard from it. I have to have a link to all three of my dashboards (for three blogs) in my bookmarks instead, which I did not have before, as I could access the dashboard from the side menu in the admin view.
