giving away 100 credit points

    i am giving away 100 credit points for the person who may need it. indeed i am leaving the application and i wont have the opportunity to reuse it. i cannot recover them either, however there is a possibility to transfer that credit.
    please hands up and i will be happy to simply transfer.

    I’m not sure what you’re referring to – there are no credits on the WordPress.com account you’re using to post here, and even if there were, WordPress.com account credits cannot be transferred.

    Can you please provide some more details on what you’re trying to do?

  • The “credit” on your account is the discount you’d automatically received if you upgraded from your current Business Plan to the more expensive eCommerce plan. In other words, if you do that you won’t have to pay full price for eCommerce, but will receive an automatic discount based on the unused time left on your current plan.

    It is not an account credit that can be used to purchase an upgrade on a different site, or that can be transferred to a different account. It can only be used on your specific site that’s currently upgraded to Business, when you upgrade to a more expensive plan.

    The only thing that can be transferred to someone else is the remainder of your Business Plan itself, and that is also what the person you spoke to on live chat explained.

  • I’m still not sure what you’re trying to do.

    Are you trying to give away what’s left of your current Business Plan to someone else, instead of just cancelling it or letting it expire?

    If so, that’s not really something we do here. People come to this forum to post requests for help with their free sites, and there’s no way to specifically flag this thread for someone looking for a free upgrade so they can take you up on this offer. If someone happens to stumble across this thread, see your offer, and reply, we’ll be happy to accommodate you as a one-time courtesy, but I think the chances of that happening are fairly slim as we’ve never had a request like this before that I know of.

    in fact I just transfered my domain to another registar and so i will not use anything that i have already paid which was supposed to go up to October
    if i cancel i understand that i will lose the money that i have already paid ; i will have a sort of credit to be reused later
    but i will not reuse it
    so i thought yes it would be nice to give what is left to someone to allow another person to upgrade their own domain with it
    but i dont really get what the credit i will get is so again maybe i misunderstood
    if it is too complicated i will surrender

    No, there is no credit to be used later. The “credit” on your account is the automatic discount that’s applied if you upgrade to a more expensive plan, based on the unused time on your current plan. If you cancel your plan now, you will not receive a refund, as you’re well past the refund period already, and you also won’t receive any credit in return.

    As @kokkieh mentioned, this is not really a request we get often, and we have no system in place to connect people wanting to give away the remaining value of their upgrade to anyone who is needing it. I mean to say we have no way to put it “up for grabs” to anyone that wants it, as we say where I am from.

    I don’t believe the person helping you in live chat intentionally mislead you, but I think they were also not sure of how to handle you request since it’s kinda rare. They said this in fact, which I wanted to highlight here:

    I can’t pick anyone as we are not allowed to make changes to user accounts without their permission. It would be easier if you had someone you had in mind.

    To clarify, we do have a way to transfer an upgrade (like the unused portion of your Business plan) to another WordPress.com account holder, but in the way this usually works you let us know the name of the person you wish to transfer it to. What they were saying and we are also saying here is that we can’t pick who that person is, and we don’t have a way to “offer it up” to anyone that needs it. instead you as the current owner would need to specify who you want to transfer it to.

    In a common scenario (as an example) it can be the case that business partners will decide to part ways, and this allows one partner to transfer site ownership to another admin on the site, such as their partner. They would not receive any “credit” but would just get the upgrade moved to their account, and would be able to use it up to the expiration date, or opt to renew it for additional years.

    So, I will ask here, do you have anyone in mind you would like to transfer your upgrade to? If not we’re not sure how we can help you proceed since we don’t have a way to give away the credit to no one in particular.

    Also, if I may say, we’re sorry to see you go. Is there anything we could have done to help prior to this point? I see you barely used the live chat support your plan provided so I apologize that we were not able to help sooner if there was an issue with your site we should have been aware of.
