Giving Credit to Images Found Online

I added a photo into my first blog post in place of the default featured photo, and in the ‘description’ box I inserted the URL to the photo to give credit to the owner of that specific photo. Is there an easier way to do this? I want to know for the future what I would have to do, so I am never accused of stealing someone else’s photographs if I decide to use them as a header for my blog posts. Thanks!

The majority of images you see in Google images are under copyright and require permission for use.
Do not ever use any image unless you have prior written permission to use it or you will be committing a breach of copyright. Confirm the specific requirements of every image source please and use what they specify for crediting them.
