Glitch in backend
-
So, here I am, writing a new blog entry, and I decide to use the automated proofreading service through After the Deadline. And once I do, all the buttons at the top move to the left. As you can see:
Is there any way to fix this? Or perhaps report it to the developers as a bug?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WOAH! That’s awful. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Hi there,
Could I get some more information from you? It sounds like this hasn’t happened before (or I assume you would have mentioned it!). Has it happened since? Which browser and version were you using (and which OS too!), and has that whole “buttons down the side of the window” thing stayed or did it go back to normal when you left the page and came back?
Sorry for the questions, I just want to have as much information as possible as I test! Any additional information you can think of would be of great help.
Thanks!

It goes away once I reload the page. But if I just go back to edit mode from proofreading mode, the screen is still glitched out, but in a different way. Suddenly there’s a large white space at the top of the text box, and the status bar, displaying word count and ‘last edited’ information, is squished up.
I’m using the latest Google Chrome (Version 36.0.1985.125 m) on a Windows 7 machine (64-bit Home Premium, Service Pack 1).
This is a new thing, that I’m pretty sure only started once the most recent redesign hit. Because now, the text box gets bigger as I type more content, and the toolbar at the top moves as I scroll down. That’s a new thing as far as I can see, and I’m sure this is related.
I thought for a moment that the problem might’ve been caused by an extension I was running, but no. I disabled all extensions, and still had the problem.
I’m not sure if there’s anything I’m missing. If you need any further information to help reproduce the problem, just ask.

I’m having some problems replicating this so far. :-/
Could you try it out on a different browser and let me know if you have the same problem? Also, does it only happen when you’re in the text editor or in the visual editor as well?
Thanks!

Tried it in Firefox. Got the same error. Doesn’t appear in the visual editor, just the text editor.
Also, I just noticed. It only comes up if there actually are errors in the document, and only after you scroll around a bit.
I think it only happens when the toolbar is at a ‘fixed’ rather than ‘absolute’ position.

Well how about that! I finally was able to replicate this on my own. Great information! Thank you. :)
OK, I’ve written all of this up and put it in front of some of our developers. They’re going to look it over and as soon as I have any additional information for you I will let you know!

I wanted to reach out and let you know that some of our developers worked on this over the weekend and fixed the issue with After the Deadline. It required that the larger window be shrunk a bit during the proofing process, but as soon as you’re done it will go back to normal.
Let me know if this works for you or if you see a return of the same behaviour. Hopefully it’ll be OK!
