Glitch in Blog Editing Screen
-
The following blog won’t let me enter the editing screen, whether I press the “edit” button at the bottom of the page, or click on “edit” using the WP admin under “posts.”
The Certamen of Homer and Hesiod and the Gospels: Some Comparanda
It starts to load the editing page, but then freezes. I can edit every other blog post on my website besides this one.
I think the problem is being caused by the fact that I unusually added two pictures into this post. You can’t have two pictures side-by-side when you click the center text orientation. So, I made the text left-oriented and simply moved the pictures over with tabs. I’ve never done this with another blog post, so I think that is causing the problem.
I have also tried to load the editing screen with both Google Chrome and Firefox. They are both getting hung up on this glitch
There a number of typos in the post, so I would very much like to edit it. If someone here could help resolve this glitch, so that I can enter the editing screen, I would greatly appreciate it.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,

You can center two side-by-side images, but doing so is a little tricky. Let me know if you’d like to try that again. However, the actions you’ve described wouldn’t cause the issue you’ve described. Do you see an error message when you attempt to enter the page editor?

When I enter on Firefox, I get an error message stating:
“A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue.”
Google chrome just freezes.

re: image alignment and side by side images
The support docs are at http://support.wordpress.com and forum tag searches are productive.
See here please > http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#alignment and here https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-alignment/#side-by-side
The alignment icons in the WordPress editor are for aligning text; they are not for aligning images. They are used to achieve wrapping text around images on either the right or left hand side, or to display an image that’s centered without text on either side of it.
Align-left means position left, with the rest of the content wrapping around the right side of the image.
Align-right means position right, with the rest of the content wrapping around the left side of the image.
Align-center means position center, with no wrap-around (= the rest of the content below the image).
If the text beside the images does not occupy the same amount of space that the image beside it does then the text wrapping will continue and the images and text that follow will have a staggered appearance.
To prevent the staggered effect what you do is insert the following snippet of code into the Text (HTML) editor after each image/text pair:
<div style="clear:both;"></div> -
@ timethief,
Hi.
The instruction at https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-alignment/#side-by-side regarding side by side images doesn’t work for a pair of centered images. Unless a certain procedure — which to my knowledge WordPress has never outlined in any support document — is followed, attempts to center a pair of images will, in my experience, invariably fail.I’ve provided instructions on how to center a pair of images in at least a couple of previous topics, though I haven’t bookmarked them. I can provide the instructions again, here, if anyone is interested.

Yes, of course, you are correct. However, that being said the OP states:
When I enter on Firefox, I get an error message stating:
“A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue.”
Google chrome just freezes.
That’s why I suggested updating the browser version.

@ timethief,
Just to clarify. The OP, not I, said:You can’t have two pictures side-by-side when you click the center text orientation. So, I made the text left-oriented and simply moved the pictures over with tabs.

I haven’t questioned your suggestion regarding updating the browser.
