Glitch with wordpress site above

The first thing that happened: my pollitalu.wordpress.com site switched to a newer kind of layout at the back end, which I do not like at all and I want to switch back to classic.
The second thing that happened was: when had made changes backstage and wanted to save them, I got a message: You are not authorized to make changes (or something to that effect) and I was not able to implement or save the changes I had made.The site I need help with is pollitalu.wordpress.com.

Hi @pollitalu, are you referring to the dashboard settings? We updated the menu a few months ago, and you can change your preferences here:
https://wordpress.com/support/dashboard/If that is not the issue, please send more details.
You are not authorized to make changes (or something to that effect) and I was not able to implement or save the changes I had made.
This sounds like an authentication issue. Please try logging out, then logging back in. If that is not working, please let us know what browser you are using now, and if possible, confirm whether you have the same issue in a different browser.

I do not see the visual you are referring to under WP Admin.
The listing on the left has the following categories:
My Home
Stats
Upgrades
Posts
Media
Pages ….
I do not see “Account Settings”
Please advise.

Your Account Settings are not located in WP-Admin. Here’s a direct link to that page so that you can make all the necessary adjustments:
