glitches and feed back
-
wordpress doesnt seem to be working properly for the last week…
eg: if I edit my blog and then try to view I cant then get back to the dashboard or the editor via wordpress unless I click the back arrow of whatever browser I am in
also even though I have new like/comment notifications (the orange star) I cant see what they are… if I click the star icon a drop down box appears that is completely blank with a loading icon that never loads
and some other little glitches but these two above are the most annoying ones
I would advise against too many upgrades as code conflict is what happens when a long standing service that was developed when technology was younger tries to upgrade, glitches occur that are annoying and unnecessary
wordpress is the only decent blog service left on the web, the old saying is if it aint broke dont fix it, WP works just fine just as it is, it doesn’t need any make overs, functionality is what counts here, as I feel that the new photo uploader is not as good as the old one we had, and who decided that slide shows are out? I happen to like slide presentations.
Please, don’t join in with this upgrade neurosis that is taking over the wen, WP is a wonderful community that doesn’t need fancy bells and whistles, the people on here are here because they like to write and they will find out how to use it through the community forums on a need to know basis and this is what builds a community, ‘interaction with its members’
I <3 WP.
and please resist the urge to keep changing things, it takes a long time to get to know a site and all its little personality foybles, depending on how frequently you use it over time, and with lots of other sites that one also uses these days and also with old age when one cant remember how one did something the last time one logged in and with upgrades that change the process one was familiar with and creates more time faffing about, a tried and tested method that stands the test of time is valuable beyond measure, people (myself included) dont have time anymore to keep relearning complex site navigation methods, and rather that make the effort to relearn it over and over again I just dont bother with those sites anymore, as with myspace and facebook and posterous (which died completely)
user loyalty has a lot to do with being able to do what one wanted to do when one logged in to do it. time is precious and these days I want to spend less time on a computer not more…
Anyway I hope you manage to iron out the glitches
One Love <3

Hi there,
eg: if I edit my blog and then try to view I cant then get back to the dashboard or the editor via wordpress unless I click the back arrow of whatever browser I am in
Can you provide a bit more detail about this? Are you unable to load the “preview”? Can you please make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled in your browser?
also even though I have new like/comment notifications (the orange star) I cant see what they are… if I click the star icon a drop down box appears that is completely blank with a loading icon that never loads
Hmm, that sounds annoying – which version of Firefox are you using? Can you test to see if you have the same problem if you load your notifications in an alternate browser, such as Safari or Chrome?
Thanks for the feedback on our changes – I know it’s sometimes irritating when things keep changing, but any changes we make are intended to make WordPress.com a smoother and better blogging experience for our users. Certainly, if there are any bugs with any new features, we want to know about them so we can fix them! :)

Apologies for the delay
Many Thanks for your advice and concern.
I followed your check list and have re-enabled cookies. I had it enabled before and for some reason switched itself off, I dont know why or how this could be..? Maybe when I upgraded firefox to the latest version. I can now see the preview window once more but still cant see a list of who follows my blog. (I try to follow everyone who follows me in return).
Also on a slightly different tangent, is there a way of copying or mirroring my WP ipoem blog onto another wordpress site? I have another wordpress site that is dormant and I would like to back up my enitre blog to another place that is set to private for admin purposes. Perhaps even auto post from one blog to another…
Many thanks in advance for your time and assistance,
Kind Regrds

Hi there – great, I’m glad you’re set with previewing now!
Also on a slightly different tangent, is there a way of copying or mirroring my WP ipoem blog onto another wordpress site? I have another wordpress site that is dormant and I would like to back up my enitre blog to another place that is set to private for admin purposes. Perhaps even auto post from one blog to another…
Hmm, I’m not entirely sure what you’re after here, but you can always set up a private blog, and export your content from the public blog and import it into the private one from time to time. Would that work?
There’s not really any way I know of to make posts automatically go to two different blogs, unless maybe you were to set up Post By Email and put both the secret email addresses in each email: Post by Email
It might be easier just to export/import, though.

Hi there thanks for your response,
yes, I have actually tried exporting my blog but it would only go back to the year 2000 and wouldn’t export anything that was set to a previous date in the 1990’s or the 1980’s which as my blog goes back to around 1982 misses out quite a lot of it
what I wanted was a way to have an archive of everything I have ever written for admin purposes, a private blog where I could reference and access and organise thirty years of content.
Last year for the first time I became a victim of online sabotage. As a result of this I have become aware of the need to back up my life’s work from this site to another one. I set up another blog, also with WordPress, that is set to private specifically for this purpose but have yet to activate it as I’d like to be able to export the whole iPoem blog in one go.
I dont need the comments or the likes, although it would be nice to be able to include the accompanying images and photographs that illustrate the blog as I have invested a lot of time putting it together and slowly over time it seems to be attracting more readers.
I also tried exporting the blog as an ebook but the same thing happened, it only exported up to the year 2000 and so the ebook only went back as far as that date also.
Perhaps you could advise me on how to get the pre-2000 content to export effectively?
Humble thanks and appreciation in advance for your time,
Kind Regards,

Hi there,
I’m sorry for the delay in my response. The export should indeed include all of your content, including images and comments (although not likes). I’m getting a time-out when I try to export it, though, so I’ve asked our developers to take a look at this. I’ll send you an email as soon as I have more information.
All the best,
