Global find and replace!!

    Hello, WordPress geniuses!!

Could we have a way to do a powerful “find and replace” operation on links (or other content) throughout the content of our blog? For example, on our school’s WordPress.com blog, we have a link to an admissions application PDF that is stored for download in Google Drive. This URL appears on the admissions page, but also in a navigation pulldown menu, linked to in a blog post, and perhaps also on some other page of content or as a featured link scattered here and there. How can we make sure that we are catching the URL everywhere and updating it when, for example, we update the document and therefore the link has to change everywhere globally on the site?

Right now we are looking into back-of-the-backend workarounds involving having the document itself be downloadable from the same URL (subsequent updates to the document would be uploaded with the same name to replace the previous version in the same directory etc.). I’m looking at using Dropbox for this. But that still leaves me with the task of having to hand replace the original Google Drive URL with the new consistent URL… and there are many docs linked that are similar to the scenario above!!

Maybe this could be an offshoot of Omnisearch where there would be some way to add find and replace within the results…?

Is this functionality available on the .org side? That might be an important differentiating feature to let users know about.

    Thanks!
