Global Ratings System

I think WordPress is a goldmine of content, but it’s not linked together well enough. Whatever kind of boom there was seems to be over, so now it’s just dedicated bloggers. Every blog I go to has great content. Maybe one way to link everyone up is to use a global ratings system, wherein the 5-stars thing that some people use is made just a standard feature, and the posts that get the greatest overall attention could be reposted to a central blog. Sort of a democratic way of determining who gets freshly pressed.

The problem I see with the 5-stars thing is that there are only two kinds of ratings, from what I can tell. A 5-star rating, and a criticism, which could be any other rating. No one with any tact is going to click anything other than 5 stars, if you see what I mean. It’s rude. The 5-star thing is a second like button, IMO. It has the potential, though, to help sort through the enormous number of posts put up on WP.com every day. Much better than any human could do with the freshly pressed thing.

Just a thought. Hope all are well, and please don’t be offended if I don’t read the responses.

So you want to propose something but you are not going to read the rsponses? Do you read comments on your blog?

    The cheek of some people!

By the way, many of us do not use the ratings “thing”.

The social sharing buttons not only allow people to endorse you, they allow them to make you famous. No global WP.com rating system could ever do that.
