gmail comment rejected, other address accepted

  A friend tried to post a comment using his gmail address, and nothing happened. Tried again, same. Then he submitted the identical comment, using a different (non-gmail) address, but making no other changes. That comment was accepted (sent to me for moderation). Is the spam filter prejudiced against commenters with gmail addresses?
