Gmail email forwarding issues

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m trying to setup Gmail to send emails with the address with my domain name (kropaneva.com) in the ‘from’ field. I use smtp.kropaneva.com for SMTP server and my credentials for WordPress.com account. I’ve tried all possible port and connection type combinations.

Gmail says: “Your other email provider is responding too slowly. Please try again later, or contact the administrator of your other domain for further information.”

It seems to be a problem on wordpress side, because I was able to connect other email addresses to Gmail this way. It also seems to be a rather common issue but I was unable to find a solution for it. Please help!

    Hi alvazora,

It sounds like you’re trying to log into an SMTP server. WordPress.com doesn’t provide SMTP, so you wouldn’t be able to do so.

You’ll have to set up email forwarding if you haven’t done so already. Here’s a support article that shows you how:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-forwarding/

After that, what you’d want to do to send email as a different address in Gmail is to click on Add another email address you own, type in your.email@kropaneva.com as the email address, then use smtp.gmail.com as your server, and your Gmail’s credentials to log in.

You’ll then have to verify that you’re able to receive email as the forwarded address. It should work fine after that!

Please feel free to post back if you have any further questions about this!
