GoDaddy Domains in WordPress
-
I bought a domain from GoDaddy, therealdonniet.com. I would like to create a blog using WordPress for this website. Would it be easier/better if I transfer the domain to WordPress?

So, not to fear, as far as function either method will work just fine.
The difference is really more on the backend of things. Do you prefer to have a single bill all in one place? Then transfer your domain to WordPress.com. Do you prefer to keep hosting separate from domain registration for organizational or pricing reasons? Then keep your domain at GoDaddy and use Domain Mapping to point it to your WordPress.com site (I do this myself for my own sites).
But again, as far as functionality, your website users will see no difference when they visit.
