GoDaddy or WordPress
-
I started a website with GoDaddy using their website builder but it didnt have the feature I needed. In short I wanted to create a website/blog where I can put info on events for family and friends and allow them to comment and interact. They offer an upgrade but they said they use WordPress. So my question is, is there any difference in going through GoDaddy or going directly through WordPress?

If you use WordPress through GoDaddy, it will be the self-hosted version of WordPress from https://wordpress.org/
We have a comparison of the differences between us over at https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
Please let us know if you have any more questions!

I read the article, and have a general idea. Sorry, I am a novice at this!
So if I understand correctly, WordPress.com host it and I would contact the staff with any issues. If I stayed with GoDaddy, and site issues would have to be handled with GoDaddy staff?

Yes but it seems that the most basic wordpress support plan from Godaddy costs £37.99 per month. Other support plans cost considerably more. Here even a free plan gets excellent support in this forum. Paid plans Premium and higher get Livechat

Great. I cancelled my GoDaddy account but kept the domain name. It says I can’t transfer the domain name into WordPress for 60 days (I have 52 days left). Any suggestions on how I can transfer the name over? Would it be domain forwarding until the 60 days are up? I am considering the Premium account in WordPress.

You can still use the domain until you’re allowed to transfer it by connecting it: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
