Godaddy self hosted site back to wordpress.com blog or wordpress.org blog

I would love to know easy step by step migrating from godaddy to wordpress.com or wordpress.org. I had one set up before, but I would like to go back.

I was doing a trial one year run for godaddy and thought, I really didn’t need to self host it.

I would love everything back from when I had my blog before. Just want to know if it’ll save everything, like comments, subscribers as of right now if I go back to wordpress.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ok. I think I imported everything back to my old wordpress site…

I just wanted to know if all the comments, followers, subscribers will be updated when I post a new blog from my old wordpress site.

Oh, and if I do register a domain here, my self hosted site from godaddy will expire. Will I be able to use that site name here?

    Thanks for the help!

Yes they will keep receiving updates through their reader or by e-mail. If you want I can transfer the followers for you.

We currently don’t take incoming domain transfers. If you let the domain expire there’s a risk that it will be registered by someone else. You can either choose to map the domain to your WordPress.com or register a new domain: https://rubieslife.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

Thanks again for your fast response.

If you could, that would be a great help. I’m going to just use my:

rubieslife.wordpress.com blog for now instead of the rubieslife.com, which will expire through godaddy.

I tried to register the new domain on wordpress.com for rubieslife.com so it would just redirect to rubieslife.wordpress.com but it is of course still taken because it has not expired yet.

So I was guessing that I had to wait until it expires if that’s the case. I hope I’m doing everything right.

The subscribers have been moved as requested.

Note that the expiration period can be lengthy and it can take up to 80 days before the domain is available for registration again.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

Thanks again! I didn’t know it was that easy just to import and export between websites.

I’ll just wait until the website becomes available then. I’m pretty happy that I’m just back on wordpress as I was before.

    :D
