GoDaddy to wordpress.com?
-
Hi, I had a WordPress site hosted on GoDaddy. I let the webhost expire on purpose. I have an export of the WordPress site data. I also have my own domain name (registered with GoDaddy and not expired) – sunkissedcakes.com. I would now like to re-create this site on wordpress.com. But I already linked a Sun Kissed Cake site on wordpress.com to the GoDaddy hosted side (which no longer exists). How can I make the Sun Kissed Cakes site that I have already entered point to wordpress.com? Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Step 2 says “go to Store → Domains in your blog’s dashboard”. I can’t. The link in wordpress.com to my blog’s dashboard is http://www.sunkissedcakes.com/wp-admin/ which doesn’t exist.
From other forum posts it looks like I need to ask wordpress.com staff to manually unlink it. Thanks.

http://www.sunkissedcakes.com is a linked blog (through Jetpack) on your WordPress.com account. Let us know if you want us to remove that from your account.
If you want a blog on WordPress.com, you can create one at http://wordpress.com/signup

I’d like to make sunkissedcakes.com a premium blog on wordpress.com. Could you help me with that? Thanks!

First you need to create a blog on WordPress.com at http://wordpress.com/signup
After that you can go to Store > Domains on your blog’s dashboard and follow the steps there.
Please take a look at the following guide before going through the process.

I’m told that the blog I would like to create, sunkissedcakes, has been reserved. Why is that? Thanks.

There is already an account under the name: “sunkissedcakes”. Which means that this account has the privilege to create a blog with that name and that’s why it’s reserved. Feel free to choose another name for your blog.

If you want to use a custom URL then the underlying URL doesn’t really matter, the whatever.wordpress.com URL. So just register ANY random URL. Then use domain mapping to attach your custom domain to it.
