Godaddy WordPress plan

Hi, I was recently talking with someone at godaddy as they offered wordpress plans so I thought I’d ask about them and see if I could upgrade my wordpress.

I told the the person that I talked to that my domain on wordpress ends with .wordpress.com so he recommened a wordpress plan that I could purchase, migrate the site over, then once Ive upgraded I could still edit the site through wordprss via godaddy.

I am just at the section where I have the option to migrate the wordpress site, I have typed in the full domain name scriptureonbeads.wordpress.com but when I type it in it says that the domain is hosted by wordpress and it cannnot be migrated.

The person that I spoke to did not tell me about this and he was aware that my domain ended in wordpress.com and he said that I would not have to upgrade anything at the wordpress end prior.

I will attempt to get through to godaddy but I was assured from godaddy that this procedure would be seamless considering the site is hosted by wordpress,

Is it possible at all in this situation to transfrer the domain to godaddy eventhough it ends with .wordpress?

    Thank you very much

Hi there, You can move your WordPress.com site content to a new website on GoDaddy, but the subdomain mysite.wordpress.com isn’t transferable as it is a subdomain of WordPress.com.

Here’s how you can export your current WordPress.com site content so you can import it to a WordPress install on GoDaddy or any other website hosting provider. https://wordpress.com/support/export/

Post back here if you have more questions about this.

Just to be clear, WordPress.com ( where we are) and WordPress are separate entities with different documentation and support forums. More information about the differences can be found here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

For the future, once you set up your WordPress site with GoDaddy, head to https://wordpress.org/support/ where you’ll find documentation and users who have more experience with the software you are using. If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums you can register one on the top of that page.
