Godaddy WP account vs. WP account

I have a domain on Godaddy on which I have initialized their hosting. Subsequently I installed WP on my account using the one-click installation provided by Godaddy. The setup went well and my account is working fine and I can administer my site by going to : mysite.com/wp-admin/ and entering the username and password I created during WP’s installation.

However, if I go to wordpress.com and try to login from here using the account information that I would otherwise on mysite.com/wp-admin/, then my login is not accepted. Is “a WP account” different from the account I am using with WP for my site administration?

This issue came up when I was activating Akismet and I needed a WP account to create my key.

    You will have two logins:
One for your hosted site (using WordPress.org software)
    http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/index.php
and one for your WordPress.com account so you can use Akismet and Jetpack.
