Going from free domain.wordpress.com domain to custom domain through wordpress.com

  If I were to upgrade my current account from my free to the personal and get a custom domain, would that include one free site redirect or would I need to pay for that as well?

  Hi, registering a custom domain on WordPress.com would allow for “example.wordpress.com” to redirect to “wordpress.com” by setting it as a Primary Domain. This is free.

  If you wanted to redirect a different site to your new domain, you’d need to pay for the Site Redirect upgrade. This is mainly ideal for people leaving WordPress.com though: https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/
