  Hello!
  I understand if I go for a paid plan, I drop the ‘wordpress.com’ from my site.
  However, can I also change the domain name for the site I am upgrading?
  So, for this site, instead of ‘academicenglishresources’ could I change that part to something else (while keeping the site’s contents)?

  It is possible to select any domain name (subject to availability) after opting in for the plan.
