Going from Godaddy to WordPress.
-
I am wondering what will happen in this process. I have had a wordpress account since 2009. I signed up for godaddy, but their pricing is changing. So I would like to know if I sign up for a personal plan at 2.99 is that for the first year or is that the price every year. Also, I have my domain with go daddy. Can I simply point it to whatever my wordpress address is?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello!
The Personal plan is 2.99/month billed yearly, including for existing customers. It includes one domain credit, which can be used to map your current domain to your new WordPress.com blog.
You can learn more about the Domain Mapping process at https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

SO the current account for my wordpress is tied to the godaddy. Once that cancels will it go back to my standard account , lets say like I had back when I first started. Or, do I need to start a new wordpress account?

Let’s break this down into two separate topics to make sure we’re both on the same page.
Your domain name will stay with GoDaddy, and will be renewed there (or with another domain registrar of your choice), because WordPress.com doesn’t currently accept incoming transfer of domain names. That part will stay as it is now.
Your hosting will be transferred over to WordPress.com from your current WordPress.org installation at GoDaddy. The process to transfer all that information over is located at https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/.
In order to keep your WordPress.com blog available at your custom domain, you’ll either need to maintain an upgraded plan or pay for domain mapping, which is $13 annually.

so right now my WordPress is showing my self-hosted site on GoDaddy. So Do I need to wait till my self-hosted site cancels or can I start that process now?
-
You can start the process now. The self-hosted site won’t disappear from your profile until you’ve transferred everything over and then deleted it yourself.
