Going from simple blog to information product to full blown business

Hey wordpress. I was wondering if I can sign up for the free plan you guys offer and start a simple blog and see if that starts getting traffic I can eventually upgrade it to the home then premium plan you guys offer.

You can certainly do that. Just head here https://en.support.wordpress.com/start/ and start the process. The nice thing about WordPress is that you are able to have multiple sites linked together. It makes setting things up and playing with themes / ideas easy.
