  i want to purchase a premium account…
  but after i go can i transfer the content from my wordpress.com site to a custom domain?

  If you already have a custom domain, you can add domain mapping to point that domain to WordPress.com:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  If you still need to register a domain, you can do that through WordPress.com:

  Register a New Domain
