going Premium or mapping domains

If I map to my custom domain do I still continue upload to wordpress? DO I point the DNS of the domain to wp.com or to a different server? Am I allowed affiliate links if I have my own domain?
If I upgrade to premium, do we get a discount for already owning my domain? My wife also has a domain, can this be included in the package, or is it $100 a year per domain?
Thanks. considering an upgrade I just am new and confused

    Hello,

Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit.

First you’ll need to add domain mapping. You can find detailed instructions on how to do this here along with visuals: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/.

Next you’ll ask your domain provider to update your DNS settings, visuals and further instructions on this process can be found here also: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Hope this helps, if you have further questions check back here.

One more answer for you – you may map as many additional domains as you’d like after using the free upgrade, however, you will need to pay for the additional mapping upgrades (I believe the cost is $13).

Hi thanks for taking the time to reply! Means a lot :)

I’m confused. I pay $13 for each domain mapping? So I can edit it in wordpress, but point the DNS to my servers with domain mapping which, as it’s not being hosted on wordpress gives me the ability to add affiliate links if I so desire?

    Thanks so much :)

    Hello,

You’re welcome, hopefully this will help answer your remaining questions:

    1. Yes, you’re correct, once you use the one free domain mapping upgrade that comes with your subscription to a plan (personal, premium, business), the cost for additional domain mapping upgrades is $13 per upgrade.

    2. Affiliate links are allowed on WordPress.com provided that the focus of your blog is to create original content and the focus is not just to drive traffic to the affiliate links. You will also need to be sure that the code for the ad is supported. You can read more about affiliate links here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=affiliate+links
