  Hello all,

  I’m starting my first blog, and am looking for a design hosted on wordpress that is good as a community postings blog.

  Can you explain a little bit more about what you mean by “community postings board” please? To me that phrase sounds more like a forum than a blog.

  i’m looking for something more expensive than a forum, but a big piece of the blog is for me to post events going on in the community. are there any add-ons for a calendar type function?

  I don’t know what you mean by this. Basic wordpress.com blogs without upgraded features are free. :) And there are also free forums available on the internet.

  No there are no calendar add-ons available.

  I think you may be looking for a wiki. Try Wikispaces or mediawiki. Both are good and free. I use Wikispaces myself.
