Good theme for article library as opposed to blog layout?

The title says it all. I’m looking for a theme/any sort of way to make it so I can make “posts” (I’m using my blog to share informative articles for my personal training business). A traditional blog layout doesn’t work for me, because I need the option for people to be able to search a subject and browse various article titles on that subject, not find a section of a blog on that subject and read a bunch of posts in chronological order.
I’m a complete beginner to WordPress, and as far as I understand I can avoid the traditional blog layout by adding pages instead of posts. Only problem is, there doesn’t seem to be a way to search for different pages in the “twenty sixteen” theme.
Directing me to any better themes/ways to work around this will be greatly appreciated!

You can add the Search Widget to any theme, which will enable visitors to your site to search both posts and pages.
In regards to the theme you’re after: Have you looked at any of our magazine style themes yet? Examples are Publication, Canard, and Gazette. They tend to be designed around “articles” rather than “blog posts” and may suit you.
