  My GoodReads Widget does not display my book

  Hi there,

  I can see your Goodreads widget on your blog, for example on this page: http://diogenesofmayberry.com/about/

  Is there a specific book that isn’t displaying? Or are you having another problem with the widget?

  The widget is there, but it is not linking to my book on Goodreads.

  What is the title of your book? I see that you currently have your Goodreads widget set to show books on your “Read” shelf. Is your book listed on that shelf in your Goodreads account?

  Manifest Insanity. I don’t think I have listed my own book in my Goodreads account. I simply copied the numerical ID from my account, as directed to in the instructions.

  The Goodreads widget is meant to let you feature some of the books you’ve listed on the reading lists in your Goodreads account. If a book isn’t listed in your Goodreads account, it won’t show up in the Goodreads widget. You can read more about this widget here: GoodReads Widget

  And yet the books in my reading list on GoodReads don’t show up either. My widget is displaying seemingly random picks.

  Is it possible that you entered your author ID in the Goodreads widget instead of your user ID? You will need to enter your user ID for the widget to work correctly, and this can be a bit different for Goodreads Authors:

  Your author ID may not match your user id. If you enter the id as retrieved above and it doesn’t display your bookshelf, you’ll need to fetch your ID from your public author page. You may need to log out of GoodReads first (or have a friend help you). Visit your author page, and then hover over or click the “add as a friend” or “send message” link on the left under your author photo.

  There are more details and screenshots to help with this on the Goodreads Widgets page. If you have questions about this or it doesn’t resolve the problem with your widget, please let me know!

  Thanks for sending this link! The number 7031434 is actually your author ID, which doesn’t work in the Goodreads widget. The widget requires a user ID, which can be found in the links for “add as a friend” or “send a message” on your Goodreads author profile page. I went ahead and updated your Goodreads widget with your user ID, so it should be displaying your books now.

  If the widget still doesn’t look right, please let me know and I will look into it further!
