Goodreads Widget deletes numeric user ID

    When I enter my user number and it begins to load the goodreads widget, it deletes the number. I can paste it back in, but when I remove my cursor, it will delete again.

    When I do this, it generates where the widget should be the message: “You need to enter your numeric user ID for the Goodreads Widget to work correctly. Full instructions.”

    If I use Google Chrome, if just deletes my numeric user ID when it loads or when I back out of the widget.

    If I use the Microsoft browser Edge, it displays above the Goodreads numeric user ID: “Invalid User ID, please verify and re-enter your Goodreads numeric user ID.”

    If I delete the digit ‘6’ from the end, it displays someone else’s reading list. If I add a 0.

    Also, I have the widget working with the same user id on this other blog:

    nilphilosophyandlit.wordpress.com

    It’s weird because if I edit the user id on that blog’s widget, it also stops working, so I just don’t save the blog when I exit altering it, so that it continues to work.

    I thought maybe I could only allow for one widget and maybe if I deleted the other it would work, but it’s only pulling data, right?

    Hi,

    Just to confirm, are you aware of the information provided below.

    “All you need is the numeric part, so copy the numbers and prepare to paste them into the WordPress.com widget.

    Note for Goodreads Authors: Your author ID may not match your user id. If you enter the id as retrieved above and it doesn’t display your bookshelf, you’ll need to fetch your ID from your public author page. To do this, select the arrow next to Follow Author, and for the ‘Add as a friend’ option, right click and select ‘Copy Link Address’. The first number in the copied link is your User ID.”
