Goodreads widget with Twenty Fourteen theme

  Under the new Twenty Fourteen theme, the Goodreads widget has white text on a white background. I have tried the fix outlined at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/goodreads-widget-font-color-problem?replies=2#post-1568191, but this did not work. Can anyone suggest an alternative fix?
