Google account login

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
I have an account of WordPress.com ID, and I want to use that when I login with another Google account.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

If you want to change the Google email address of your WordPress.com account to another one, you can follow these instructions:

Let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you. I’m happy to help.

    Hi there,
I have a site of battleshippark with (email visible only to moderators and staff) WordPress.com ID, and battleshippark271017 with (email visible only to moderators and staff) Google account.
I already signed up with (email visible only to moderators and staff) so I can’t change my email from battleshippark to battleship.park with a message “That e-mail address is already being used.”
Then, can I change email if I remove the account of (email visible only to moderators and staff)? https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-deactivation/ is a right guide for remove account?

    Thanks.

  • By following this guide:

    Change Your Email Address

you’ll be able to change the email address for battleshippark271017 to a throwaway one and then use that address for your other account (battleshippark).

Please let me know if you need more help!

I tried to change (email visible only to moderators and staff) of battleshippark271017 to (email visible only to moderators and staff) of battleshippark, but I see an alert message “That e-mail address is already being used.”

Conversely, I tried to change (email visible only to moderators and staff) of battleshippark to (email visible only to moderators and staff) of battleshippark271017, but I see an alert message “That e-mail address is already being used.” again.

    One more,
I changed the email of battleshippark271017 to (email visible only to moderators and staff).
I tried to change the email of battleshippark to (email visible only to moderators and staff), and I received the confirmation email in (email visible only to moderators and staff).
So I clicked the link and I logined with (email visible only to moderators and staff) with “Continue with Google”.
I expected to login to battleshippark but I am battleshippark271017.

    Thanks.

  • Please note that dots don’t matter in Gmail addresses. Therefore both your addresses are pointing to the same Google account. You can read more about it here:

    https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7436150?hl=en

Can you please let me know which of the two WordPress.com accounts you plan on keeping so that I change the email address for you.

  • Unknown's avatar

You are right, dots don’t matter in Gmail addresses. I explain my situation again.

    First account:
email: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
    site: battleshippark
WordPress.com ID, which means I login with this email and password.

    Second account
email: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
    site: battleshippark271017
Google account, which means I login with “Continue with Google”

What I want is, to use the first account and site “battleshippark” instead of site “battleshippark271017” even when I login with the second account.
I think it is not effective to change email, but I am not sure. Please give me some help.

    Thanks.

  • Hi battleshippark, I think I understand.

I’m not sure that switching addresses will attach “continue with google” to the first account. But, let’s switch the addresses, and if it does not work, we’ll see what else we can figure out.

So, here’s what will work for switching addresses:

First, log into your second account.

Change the email address so it has two dots instead of one. I know, it sounds weird. Trust me on this though. :)

You will get an email from us asking you to confirm the change. Confirm it.

Then log out, and log into your first account. Put in your preferred email address, save, and then confirm that.

    Will you try that?

    Hi, supernovia.

First of all, when I input (email visible only to moderators and staff) with two dots, I can see “(email visible only to moderators and staff) is not a valid email address.” (I want to cry)

    Current situation is,
Second account “battleshippark271017” has (email visible only to moderators and staff).
First account “battleshippark” has (email visible only to moderators and staff).
Yeah, I succeeded to change email.

I login with (email visible only to moderators and staff) and password, then I am battleshippark
This is not bad, but I login with (email visible only to moderators and staff) by “continue with google”, then I am battleshippark271017, not battleshippark.
I want to login with “continue with google” not ID/PW.

    Thanks.

I can not see the new reply after I make it

  • Unknown's avatar

And, when I reply with comments with two dots email address, I can not see it.

  • Hi there,

when I reply with comments with two dots email address, I can not see it

The forums automatically hides email addresses for privacy reasons, but staff can see the emails you typed.

This is not bad, but I login with [redacted] by “continue with google”, then I am battleshippark271017, not battleshippark.
I want to login with “continue with google” not ID/PW.

Please log into your battleshippark271017 account. Then go to the Gravatar website:

    https://en.gravatar.com/emails/

Delete the second Gmail address there.

Then log out and try to log into your battleshippark account. Does it work now?

  • Just to be on the safe side, also completely clear your browser cookies before logging into the battleshippark account after removing that email.

    Hi,
I am afraid Gravatar did not work. Additionally the status of my accounts was messed up.
    So I made this scenario:
    1. You remove user battleshippark271017. “Removal”, not “Close” or “Deactivation”
    2. You change the email of user battleshippark to (email visible only to moderators and staff)
    3. I login with (email visible only to moderators and staff) by “continue with google”
    4. Your system finds the same email is already in user battleshippark.
    5. Your system ask me to connect Google profile with user battleshippark or not.
    6. I login with user battleshippark.

Then I can login with Google profile (email visible only to moderators and staff) to user battleshippark. Right? Is it possible?

    Thanks.

  • @battleshippark

1 – Accounts are permanently deactivated so they cannot be reused, but your information will be removed from it.

2 – You would be able to update the address on the old account

3 – I am not positive whether you’d have to do anything different with Google at that point to log in, but we can give it a try.

    Hi,
    I tested my scenario.
    1. I had user xerossia433508951 which is created by (email visible only to moderators and staff), Google profile. Its email was (email visible only to moderators and staff).
    2. The current email of user battleshippark is (email visible only to moderators and staff). (You might think why the user has that mail. Yeah, my accounts are messed up.)
    3. I deleted user xerossia433508951.
    4. I logined with (email visible only to moderators and staff), Google profile. I expected your system would ask me to connect (email visible only to moderators and staff), Google profile to user battleshippark, because user battleshippark’s email was (email visible only to moderators and staff) and user created by (email visible only to moderators and staff) was deleted.
    5. I just logined to user xerossia433508951.

I think user xerossia433508951 has to be wiped out completely to connect (email visible only to moderators and staff), Google profile to user battleshippark.

Can you wipe out an account completely? I expect you can because you must have some admin tool to manage users and accounts.

    Thanks.
