We do have an advertising program called WordAds, which you can read more about here:
Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed. For full details, please see:
http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. Please see this link to learn about the differences:
We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested:

Thank you so much! I guess I’m moving to wordpress.org. Any tips on where to get started?
-
If you’re interested, we do offer an upgrade called Guided Transfer (available in the Store section of your blog’s Dashboard) where we take care of everything for you: http://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/
Otherwise, you’ll need to install WordPress from http://wordpress.org/ on a hosting provider. We have some recommendations at http://get.wp.com/hosting/
Once that’s done, you can move your content following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress at:
http://wordpress.org/support/
http://codex.wordpress.org/We do offer yearly and one-time premium support packages for self-hosted WordPress sites through our VIP program, available at http://vip.wordpress.com

okay great! I’ve succesfuly made the move to wordpress.org. Now i am using the same theme (Academica) but I do not see the options to change font, color, and size like I saw on wordpress.com. Any clue on how to get these customizations? Thanks soo much!

Those particular controls are only available at WordPress.com. For the most part, you’ll be modifying the stylesheet directly, or creating a child theme, when on WordPress.org.
There may be some plugins to help with that, so I highly recommend asking over at http://wordpress.org/support/ They should be able to steer you in the right direction. :)
