Google Adsense

    A lot of people ARE creating blogs just to host ads. They have been misled by the SEO industry into thinking they can quit their jobs in a very short length of time because of all the money those blogs will bring in.

    The annoying thing about Amber alerts is they want to start sending them to all the cell phones within an area now. I hate to say that as I see the importance but I do hope that one doesn’t go through Congress. It’s like that county that was using their highway emergency signs to advertise bakesales.

    @Raincoaster

    I do not agree with your view. Might be You are right in telling the SEO industry as such luring bloggers to earn. However, Just think what kind of profit do you make by investing a whole lot of time on writing hundreds of posts. An average worker in US earn a minimum guaranteed wage of $7.25 per hour but can you tell what kind of money does the blogger get? When we try framing a post, it takes an average 30~45 mins writing a single post which includes the amount of thinking process, writing, editing and so on. Indirectly, A Blogger is becoming a great source of resource for surfers. Just think the WP thinking alone. I remember reading a thread posted by WP staff on WP ads in some selected blogs that they are testing this to cover their rising costs of free hosting. So, It is clear for your sustenance on a longer term some source of revenue should accrue to bloggers atleast for their time and effort. For we bloggers who come from corporate community, We indirectly benefit from blogging in a way it creates enough branding for our company. So, Ads revenue doesn;t matter to us. However, A free lancer who would blog might be in need of some sort of revenue to cover his time and net expenses at the least. I think in a way bloggers need to be encouraged to create some revenue channel for them unlike we corporate bloggers. When I posted this thread for the first time, We were just experimenting on how this stuff works. We didn’t even care for the fact that WP doesn’t allow ads. But this needs a definite consideration for a free lance bloggers and other individuals for their efforts and time. A small example to cite here is for a small 4 page report from a research company, they charge an average $500 for certain research in some cases. No one in the world is ready to a social or a free service on longer time frames.

    hromanager, I’m having difficulty making out what you mean, but I’ll address your points as far as I can make them out.

    As a once and future professional blogger I can tell you authoritatively that an enormous number of people who are starting blogs with ads on them have been led to believe that they will be able to rely on them for income, and it is simply untrue. I’m talking about probably at least ten thousand people per month; it’s a scam. There is great bitterness in certain circles, because when they ask why it’s not happening, the answer always seems to be “pay me to blog about you or link to you” or “work for me for free and you’ll get great exposure”.

    Conde Nast, the highest-paying company in the world of journalism, just announced several openings for bloggers; three posts a day, $1000 a month. Much more typical is the $5 per blog post that I was offered, and those are for employment situations.
