  I do not understand why I cannot have my own choice of ads on my site if I have paid for my own domain name and hosting features with wordpress.com.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  We do have an advertising program called WordAds, which you can read more about at http://wordads.co/

  Advertising, including affiliate links, outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed:
  http://support.wordpress.com/advertising/

  If you require other advertising, you might look into self-hosted WordPress:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
