I have purchased a premium account and I have my own domain (byclarkellis.com) and would like to work with google adsense. I know it’s not possible with a free wordpress.com account, but now that I’ve upgraded am I able to do it? If so, how?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I’m sorry, but Google Adsense is not possible on WordPress.com with any upgrade. If this is a necessity for you, I highly recommend moving to WordPress.org. To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites. With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.

If this is what you would like to do, let me know and I can provide you instructions on moving to .org.

Ok thank you that clears up quite a lot. Here’s the thing, I’d like to look at getting paid for blogging. At this point, what would be the best way to go about that? If I ought to switch over to .org, can I make a smooth transition without losing my followers or existing content?

We have our own ads program called Wordads:
Take a look and see if it would be right for you! If you do, you can apply for the program directly on the site!
If you don’t want to use our ads program, you can switch to WordPress.org by exporting your posts/pages. Then, I can also transfer your followers for you.
Cheers!

Ok, so how does wordads work? I was attracted to adsense because I retain a measure of control over what ads are posted where on my blog. Is wordads similar?
