Google Adsense Adding Trouble

  I am trying to add google adsense onto my website by placing it in a text section under widgets. When I do so and click save after inserting the html code, it cuts the code down in half and appears in an error state on my blog page. How can I fix this issue?

  put Google Adsense on your blog or sell your own ads and your site will be suspended
