I would like to see this plug-in added. I’ve been approved for ads and can’t find a good plug-in to display them. Google puts the blame on WordPress.com. The plug-ins I’ve tried have not offered any support.

That’s not going to happen. And what’s that nonsense about blaming Google? Did you not read the Terms of Service here and the support docs?
No blogger initiated advertising is allowed on WordPress.com blogs. The only blogs that can be equipped for ecommerce are those with the $299. per year business upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/
The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains.
