Google after Domain Purchase

  I purchased the domain upgrade this morning and everything seems to be working OK – I went from kellywpa.wordpress.com to kellywpa.com. I am not sure what to do with the Google Webmaster part though. In my WP dashboard, the old site info is appearing in the tools In Google, there is a place to change the web address, but it says that is restricted to root level domains only (I have no clue what that means). Do I add the new site using the old meta info or do I do the address change?

  Hi. “Restricted to root level domains only” means you can request a change from kellywpa.net to kellywpa.com for example, but not from kellywpa.wordpress.com, since your site is actually a subdomain of the wordpress.com domain, which you don’t own.

  On Google Webmaster Tools, I simply did as if I had a new website, with the new domain name.
