How do i add my tracking code on free hosting? I have no idea of what im doing to add them, and seems strange to have to have business hosting to enable them as i cant get plugins. Need this for my college coursework.

Hi there, you are correct that it would require the Business plan upgrade in order to use Google Analytics on a WordPressdotcom site. https://en.support.wordpress.com/google-analytics/
If this is a make or break issue for you, another option is to go with self-hosting a standalone install of the WordPress software on 3rd party hosting.
