  Can google analytics be installed on free wordpress.com sites? If so, how do you do it?

  No it can’t. You can use Google Webmaster Tools though, which gives you a certain amount of info, such as search terms and impressions etc

  oh cool. how do you upload the file once you download it from google webmaster? I tried using the media uploader, but that doesn’t do it.

  You don’t download anything. You will find the instructions here http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/#google-webmaster-tools

  ah I see. Do you exclude the quotation marks around the content? Like when I’m inputting into wordpress, if my code is:

  <meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”d2R__Si7almxd5M9JdVo2hpU-Exa5-QL_jaAfdsfdsfEE” />

  I should only copy and paste:

  d2R__Si7almxd5MS9JdVo2hpU-Exa5-QL_jaAfdsfdsfEE

  into the tools section as specified in the guide?
