Google Analytics (Again)
-
Hi,
In this post, a member of the wordpress.com staff indicates that Google Analytics isn’t going to be added for security reasons.
However, it is a plugin being offered as part of the VIP service, where there is naturally no mention of it being a security issue.
If it was available as an upgrade, I’d probably buy it as it’s pretty useful to me, and I can’t see the “encrypted search terms” issue being fixed anytime soon.
Being told it’s a security problem and then offering it to your most high-profile customers doesn’t really add up and makes me more likely to leave the service and look for hosting elsewhere.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As you’re aware this issue has been raised before, you won’t be surprised that the answer is the same as before.
In order for plugins to be approved for VIP sites, there is a $6000 fee per plugin.

Thanks for your quick response.
So, in your opinion, WordPress.com users will never get Google Analytics support? Is there any sort of WP.com feature roadmap that you know of?

No. Just not now, nor will we necessarily be informed when it is put in place.
Is there any sort of WP.com feature roadmap that you know of?
None that is open to the public.

Back in the mists of time, I do recall that another community member posted a tutorial on how to add GA to WordPress.com sites that were running on a domain name.
Don’t have the link handy or the time now, but if you have time you can search through the posts here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/google-analytics

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I’m already familiar with the technique, but I’d rather have a simpler solution.
