Google Analytics – where to post the tracking ID code
-
Hello!
I just got my first ID tracking code on Google Analytics but I don’t know where to paste it.
They say you should post it on every page you want to track. Could you please guide me on how to do that?
Also, I realized that the “home” page cannot be selected under the “Pages” section on the Dashboard. Why is that?
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
WordPress.com users cannot install Google Analytics tracking codes on their blog. You can read a bit more about this here:
However, we do have some powerful stats features built right in (listed at the address above). Is there a specific metric you were looking to track?
Also, I realized that the “home” page cannot be selected under the “Pages” section on the Dashboard. Why is that?
Currently, your “Home” page is just a collection of your most recent blog posts. It’s not an official “page” that you can edit per se. New blog posts are just automatically added when you post to your site.
If you would like to set a static front page that you can edit, you can do so following the instructions here:
Can you give that a try?

Hello, jeremy.
Thanks for the info on the “Home Page” bit.
As for the “Google analytics” part, I no longer have a WordPress.com. My website is hosted on Hostgator and I’m using jetpack plugins.
In that case, the question persists. Please advise me on how to proceed.
Thanks!

Hi Julian,
You’ve reached support for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. Since I don’t have access to your site files, I can’t provide direct support. However, any of these methods should work for installing Google Analytics on your self-hosted site:

Give those a try!
