Google and WordPress
-
I logged into my Google+ account and noticed that my blog posts, that are being fed in from WordPress, have random photos attached, and not the original photo that is on my blog post. Not every time, but I’ve counted four posts in the last week. Why? And can you help me figure out why it’s happening? The photos being attached are various award buttons that I have at the bottom of my blog, not associated with the poem or post I’ve published. My guess is that it isn’t a Google issue, as I haven’t uploaded those buttons to Google. I could be wrong. Help.
Thanks,

Google+, like most social media sites, grab the first image they find to highlight with the post. If you manually add the post to Google+, you can scroll through the images before submitted the status to choose the right image. When you let Google+ choose, it goes with what it finds.
This is a Google+ issue issue, not WordPress. Oh, how I’d love to get it to choose the right image.
The only way I’ve found to improve the odds is to ensure there is an image at the top of the post to the center, right or left aligned, and the image is at least 50% of the width of the content column. It’s a crap shoot, but it works more often than not – again, it’s a Google+, Facebook, etc., thing, not WordPress.
