Google Apps/Email problem

  I purchased my domain (http://www.sunonthesand.net) today and I’m trying to set up google email on the domain.

  I followed the steps laid out in this guide http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/05/23/gmail-mx/ but I can’t get passed step 3. When I select ‘upload html file’ the site doesn’t seem to automatically recognise it’s a wordpress as the FAQ suggests it will and I get no verification code.

  So then I tried to make the html file it requests (which you can see the results of on the site) but that doesn’t work either as you can’t include a dot or “.” symbol in a url which is what it wants.

  Neither can I use to CNAME route because domains bought through wordpress don’t support that.

  I have the google MX option enabled on the domains section.

  Can anyone tell me where I’m going wrong here? I’ve tried searching the forums but to no avail.
