Google calendar in sidebar

    I’m afraid I already know the answer to this, but I need to ask anyway. WordPress.org offers a very flexible little plug-in called Simple Calendar, in which I could set up a Google API key through the Google Developers Console, and then could create a very minimal sidebar that allowed me to display the current day’s events, the start time, and just a few lines from the description. I have since moved to WordPress.com, and discovered that although it offers a Google calendar interface through the extended widgets, I find that it is nowhere as flexible as Simple Calendar was. I want to make sure I am not missing anything– is there anything in the WordPress.com plug-ins that duplicates the functionality of Simple Calendar?
