Google console HTML tag verifivation will not work

The error message I get is verification method: HTML file Failure reason: Your verification file was not found in the required location. I have repeatedly uploaded the meta tag to the traffic/verification page and has not worked. Help.

Can you confirm the site that you need help with please?
It sounds like you’re trying to use a HTML file method of verification. You should be trying to verify using a Google meta tag instead.
