google domain name?

I own my domain name through google.
When I go through the steps to ‘map my domain,’ it allows me to enter my google owned domain address but then when I get to checkout it says mygoogledomain.wordpress.com
How do i get the ‘.wordpress.com’ to go away. I just want mydomain.com and that’s it.
I don’t want to check out because it is still having the wordpress.com at the end of the domain.
What am I doing wrong?!

I think things are working correctly. Everyone needs a subdomain address ending in .wordpress.com for their sites. With a paid plan the custom domain will be mapped to that site, made the primary domain and that is what people will see in browser address bars. If you ever relinquished your paid plan you’d still have a site with the .wordpress.com address (although no doubt some features included in the paid plan would no longer work).
